SHOW-CASE project No. 5　Motohiro Tomii: Unit of the Figure

The SHOW-CASE project was born as a concept for an optional contemporary art exhibition centered around a single display case and related printed matter. Motohiro Tomii—who is currently collaborating on the SHOW-CASE PROJECT Extra for the third consecutive year—created the prototype for this initiative and participated in its inaugural exhibition. Now, the 5th iteration will be held in conjunction with the final installment of the SHOW-CASE PROJECT Extra: "SHOW-CASE PROJECT Extra-3 Motohiro Tomii: Conditions of the Figure".

More than ten years after the initial pilot (Vol. 0) and first exhibition (Vol. 1) in 2014, Motohiro Tomii returns to approach the exact same showcase, incorporating the surrounding gallery space into the presentation. How will Motohiro Tomii present his response to the space and the exhibition room? We hope you will come and experience it.

Additionally, a talk event featuring key figures involved in the SHOW-CASE project will be held on November 7.

指定された展示ケースひとつを使えば場所はどこであってもかまいません。展示と同時に発行する印刷物は基本のフォーマットと決められたルールを守れば作家によるバリエーションに開かれています。このように条件が与えられているという規制的な側面と、その範囲では場所も作り方も自由という自由な側面が双方で効果を発揮し、アーティストのバラエティや発想の豊かさを引き出すことができれば考えています。
